Join UHS as a Regional Chief Medical Officer for the Southeast Region of the Acute Care Division. The role is remote, based in Florida or South Carolina.
Opportunity Details UHS is one of the largest providers of hospital and healthcare services in the U.S. The Regional Chief Medical Officer reports to the Chief Medical Officer of the Acute Care Division and collaborates with the Southeast Regional Vice President, facility CEOs, and the division quality team to ensure high‑quality, safe patient care and superior patient experience.
Position Summary
Provide leadership and expertise in clinical alignment, quality, clinical effectiveness, safety, medical staff operations, resource utilization, and physician leadership development
Provide input for and oversee the successful execution and universal adoption of the UHS Acute Care Division Quality Program
Provide guidance to medical staffs, MECs, and medical staff services teams within the region on physician governance issues, ensuring compliance with medical staff bylaws and policies impacting the medical staff and clinical care
Participate with hospital leaders in formulating strategic planning and accomplishing institutional goals and objectives while serving as a liaison between the medical staff and administration
Position Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of clinical practice experience, with hospital experience strongly preferred
Minimum of 2 years of experience as Chief Medical Officer of an acute care hospital or health system required
Experience participating in medical staff leadership roles and committees
Medical degree from an accredited medical school
Completion of an ACGME‑accredited residency program in the U.S.
Master’s or Physician Executive advanced degree strongly preferred (MBA, MHA, MPH, MS, MHL, MMM)
Active Florida or South Carolina medical license
Clean professional background and history
Travel requirements up to 75%

Ability to educate, mentor and provide oversight to medical staffs and support teams
Experience in supporting medical education programs (GME and UME)
