Responsibilities The Director of Sales Training is responsible for setting the strategy and leading the design, development, and execution of comprehensive sales and product training programs that foster a culture of learning and drive business performance. This role partners with senior leadership across the Medical Device, Office, and Stem commercial organizations to align training initiatives with strategic priorities and deliver impactful learning solutions. The Director oversees all aspects of training development and implementation, including financial management, and is accountable for hiring, developing, and leading a high‑performing team of sales training managers. Additionally, this position ensures continuous improvement by measuring program effectiveness and optimizing learning strategies to achieve sales excellence and support organizational growth.
Oversee and manage the Sales Training team for the Medical Device, Office, and Stem commercial organizations, including Inside Sales Teams and Customer Service.
Recruit, hire, onboard, and coach to build a high‑performing team.
Establish, develop, and implement a comprehensive sales training strategy with internal stakeholders that is aligned and supports the overall business strategy and objectives of the franchise, including global markets where applicable.
Create and maintain an annual operating plan and budget to support ongoing training initiatives; manage training budget expenses against forecast.
Act as the project lead for readiness of all documents, training materials, event correspondence, agendas, and approvals for designated BUs.
Act as the main point of contact for Sales and Marketing teams regarding day‑to‑day operations of training; develop new training initiatives or support changes in existing initiatives.
Manage vendor relationships during the creation and building of training materials; ensure all curricula are properly maintained and approved via the Promotional Review Committee.
Launch and pull through the Consultative Selling Program for all applicable markets.
Engage senior leaders to identify, prioritize and execute skill development for their respective teams.
Establish objectives and develop criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of the training activities; make modifications as necessary to ensure the training meets the educational goal.
Lead and manage the Sales Training team to create high‑quality training content in partnership with internal stakeholders or through oversight of external vendors, ensuring delivery within budget and on schedule.
Lead strategic projects that address the needs of the field sales force, including product launches, indication expansions, and new marketing or positioning directives.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—Marketing, Clinical, Regulatory, IT, Sales Operations, and Commercial Analytics—to ensure alignment and integration of key business priorities.
Work closely with marketing team members to ensure a thorough understanding of products and market approach and to develop training to support tactical implementation of marketing and commercial strategies.
Partner with fellow Sales Training Directors to support and oversee the Certified Field Trainer program for the CooperSurgical businesses, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with organizational objectives.
Qualifications Travel
Ability and willingness to travel 20–40% domestically and internationally; occasional weekend and overnight travel required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge and experience with adult learning principles (ADDIE, Kirkpatrick model, The Six Disciplines Of Breakthrough Learning).
Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat; expertise in MS PowerPoint and Excel and Smartsheet.
Strong platform/presentation/facilitation skills.
Strong communication skills, both live and virtual; excellent verbal and writing skills.
Strong project management experience to set and manage priorities, resources, goals, and initiatives.
Experience
Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in medical device/pharmaceutical sales and sales training.
Women’s Healthcare background preferred.
Proven track record of designing and implementing large‑scale training programs for sales teams, preferably in medical device or healthcare industries.
Education
BA/BS degree.
Work Environment
This role is designated as on‑site in Trumbull, CT; five days a week, unless otherwise on business travel.
The ability and willingness to travel 20–40% of the time, weekends and overnight travel may be required.

This individual will report directly to the VP of Global Professional Education, Sales Training and Professional Development.
