Job Description U.S. Pipe and Foundry are seeking a Safety Manager. The successful candidate will assist plant leadership in establishing and maintaining a safe work environment. Relocation to Birmingham, Alabama is required.
Essential Responsibilities
Develop and implement annual safety programs, emphasizing high‑risk areas such as LOTO, hot work, confined space, and fall protection.
Conduct plant housekeeping audits.
Perform ergonomic assessments and develop corrective plans.
Lead incident investigations and follow‑up on near‑miss events, property damage, and injuries.
Schedule and track plant‑wide regulatory safety training.
Develop the Safety Training Matrix and orientation systems for new and transferred employees and contractors.
Coordinate safety and industrial hygiene monitoring as required.
Conduct PPE assessments and communicate requirements.
Monitor ongoing compliance and maintain the Worker’s Compensation program at the plant level.
Maintain clear communication for emergency response, injury, and near‑miss situations.
Lead and coordinate safety meetings.
Skills & Other Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in safety or environmental is preferred.
A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status is preferred.
5‑7 years of safety and environmental experience in a heavy manufacturing setting.
2‑4 years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial safety role.
Proven leadership and self‑direction skills are required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Familiar with material handling equipment, crane operation, and related capabilities.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and personal protection equipment.
Experience developing and implementing safety programs and policies.
Strong knowledge of hazardous materials and MSDS information.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Bi‑lingual ability in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
