Mechanical Piping Superintendents
to join our team to work on large, commercial projects in
Palm Bay ,
Orlando
and across Central Florida.
Position Summary Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in fabricating, assembling, and installing piping and equipment for hydronic heating, cooling, and condenser water systems. Oversees multiple projects and determines the appropriate material and manpower requirements to ensure a good rate of production and efficiency.
Essential Functions
Coordinate all aspects of projects by leading teams of pipe fitters and helpers.
Interpret drawings and specifications and relay information to foreman and work crew to produce finished product.
Attend job meetings.
Coordinate with department manager for manpower, tools, rental equipment, and material deliveries, ensuring that all items are processed for a timely delivery to the jobsite.
Ensure company policies and safety regulations are adhered to.
Strong leadership skills.
Supervise hydronic piping and equipment connections.
Utilize experience to guide foreman, ensuring safe work practices and rate of productivity are kept.
Coordinate with other trades to avoid conflicts.
Differiate between contract work and work that would be considered in addition to the contract.
Communicate with foreman and work crew what is expected of them and ensure that instructions are understood.
Ensure that proper work quality is achieved and instill pride in subordinates for work quality.
Consult with foreman and department manager regarding input on hiring and dismissing workers.
Interpret submittals and job orders as needed for the project.
Asssemble procurement orders for materials, equipment and tools required at each project commencement.
Establish and adjust work sequences to meet construction schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel.
Evaluate foreman and workers’ abilities and use expertise to ensure the most productive job placement on a day‑to‑day basis.
Study schedules and estimate man‑hour requirements for completion of job.
Review and ensure accurate time records.
Follow health and safety standards and comply with building codes.
Write reports documenting the problem and summary of actions taken.
Qualifications / Education / Work Experience
Minimum 8 years of field experience.
Minimum 4 years experience in a foreman trade‑level role.
Knowledge of hydronic systems, cooling, and heating.
Understand shop math.
Work skillfully with tools, metals, and machines.
Understand English and provide directives to assigned helpers.
OSHA 30 certification.
Reliable transportation required.
Physical Requirements This is primarily a shop or field jobsite. You must be able to lift a dead weight of at least 50 pounds, bend, stretch, crouch, and lift as required by the job, and respond quickly to sounds, sights, and hazardous situations. Proper personal protective gear must be worn.
