Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in Chicago, IL. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for accurately and timely processing payroll, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, and maintaining accurate employee payroll records.
Key Responsibilities
Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, including reviewing and verifying timecards, calculating wages, and ensuring proper deductions.
Maintain and update employee payroll records, including changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations for the US and Canada.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and resolve discrepancies as needed.
Collaborate with the People team and Accounting departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates such as new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
Stay current on changes to payroll and tax laws that impact the company.
Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing.
Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations related to salaries, wages, taxes, and other payroll-related matters.
Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
