The College of Engineering at the University of Arkansas is soliciting applications for a 9-month 100% appointed tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering. While applications from all areas of biomedical engineering are welcome, we are especially interested in candidates with a research focus in the thematic area of cell and tissue metabolism. These include but are not limited to the development of in vitro models of key physiological systems involved in metabolic regulation, development of imaging tools to evaluate cellular and tissue metabolism, metabolic engineering using gene editing tools, development and use of computational or experimental high content screening systems to understand metabolic dysregulation, and modeling and simulation of metabolic processes involved in disease. Candidates with a research focus in metabolomics and/or lipidomics are also highly encouraged to apply. This faculty search is part of the University\'s efforts to grow our existing strengths in metabolic research on campus and is closely aligned with the Arkansas Integrative Metabolic Research Center (AIMRC). The AIMRC is a NIH-funded Center for Biomedical Research Excellence established in 2021 and will provide critical support to junior faculty to establish their research programs. Over the last 4 years, AIMRC-supported early-stage investigators have secured $17.6M in federal research funding. Successful candidates will demonstrate interdisciplinary synergy with existing research strengths on campus and a commitment to promoting a collaborative atmosphere. Current faculty research expertise in biomedical engineering includes biomedical imaging and optics; cancer detection, progression, and therapy; cell and gene therapy and regenerative medicine; cardiovascular biomechanics and mechanobiology; biomaterials and tissue engineering; bioseparations and biomolecular simulations; neural engineering; systems biology and computational network modeling.
