Assistant Professor, Biology & Biomedical Engineering Boston University’s College of Arts & Sciences, College of Engineering, and Biological Design Center (BDC) have embarked on a bold plan to improve human health by working at the intersection of tissue engineering, synthetic biology, cell biology, and mechanobiology.

This tenure‑track assistant professor opening is for a candidate whose research interests use synthetic approaches to engineer novel tissue models of disease and applied therapeutics. Areas of particular interest include regenerative medicine, organoids, and mechanobiology.

$120,000.00 – $130,000.00

Boston, Massachusetts

Primary Appointment:

Full time split equally between the Department of Biomedical Engineering (College of Engineering) and the Department of Biology (College of Arts & Sciences). Affiliated appointments with the Division of Materials Science and Engineering, appropriate life‑science and computational departments, and the Medical School may also be considered.

Responsibilities

Teach graduate and undergraduate courses effectively and support student learning.

Develop an independent research program that attracts significant funding.

Lead research efforts focused on synthetic tissues, organoids, mechanobiology, and regenerative medicine.

Collaborate across the university and beyond to strengthen interdisciplinary research.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in a relevant area of biology, biomedical engineering, or materials science.

Outstanding research record and potential for leading an independent research program.

Experience with synthesis, tissue engineering, and cellular biology preferred.

Strong teaching and mentorship experience at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
