Job Summary
Litigation Associate for Defense Base Act (DBA) and Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA) claims. Base pay range: $130,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr. Responsibilities
Handle a diverse caseload involving DBA and LHWCA claims. Conduct factual investigations, evaluate claims exposure, and develop strategic defense plans. Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery responses, and settlement evaluations. Manage all aspects of litigation, including depositions, hearings, mediations, and informal conferences. Represent clients in Formal Hearings and Appeals before the U.S. Department of Labor and related tribunals. Work closely with employers, carriers, adjusters, and international contractors to gather evidence and coordinate case strategy. Analyze complex medical records, expert reports, and causation issues involving burn pits, PTSD/psychological claims, hearing loss, and orthopedic injuries. Provide coverage evaluations, legal opinions, and regulatory guidance related to DBA/LHWCA matters. Coordinate with the maritime and admiralty team on overlapping offshore injury or international contractor issues. Stay current on statutory changes, case law updates, and federal regulations impacting DBA/LHWCA litigation. Maintain organized documentation, update case statuses, and ensure timely filings and compliance throughout the claims process. Seniority Level
