Position Overview We are seeking highly skilled Mainframe IMS and CICS Developers to join our growing team in Wilmington, DE. The ideal candidates will bring extensive hands‑on experience working in large‑scale enterprise mainframe environments, with strong technical depth in COBOL, IMS, CICS, and z/OS. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining mission‑critical applications that support core business operations. This position requires a strong understanding of mainframe architecture, exceptional problem‑solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design, write, and optimize COBOL programs to support both new development and existing system enhancements.
Work extensively within z/OS environments, leveraging deep knowledge of mainframe operations, system utilities, and performance considerations.
Develop and maintain applications using IMS/DB and IMS/DC, ensuring data integrity, efficient database interactions, and high‑performance transaction processing.
Build, modify, and troubleshoot CICS applications, including screens, transactions, and program interfaces.
Create and manage complex JCL scripts to support batch processes, job scheduling, and operational workflows.
Collaborate with system administrators to perform basic mainframe system management tasks, including dataset management, security coordination, and resource handling.
Work closely with QA teams, business analysts, and project stakeholders to translate requirements into high‑quality technical solutions.
Analyze production issues, identify root causes, and deliver timely resolutions to support business‑critical applications.
Participate in on‑call rotations, peer reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall system reliability and performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Programming: Strong proficiency in COBOL, with the ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
Operating Systems: Advanced understanding of z/OS, including TSO/ISPF, SDSF, utilities, and diagnostic tools.
Database Technologies: Expertise in IMS/DB and IMS/DC, including hierarchical database concepts, PSBs, DBDs, and message processing.
Transaction Processing: Deep knowledge of CICS architecture, program control, BMS mapping, and high‑volume transaction processing.
JCL: Strong ability to write, debug, and optimize Job Control Language scripts for complex batch workloads.
System Administration: Basic knowledge of mainframe system administration, dataset structures, RACF or equivalent security tools, and system monitoring.
Excellent analytical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, fully onsite environment.
