Assistant Professor of Statistics Department of Mathematics, College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, California State University, Fullerton. Fall 2026. The Department invites applications for a tenure‑track position in Statistics at the Assistant Professor level with the appointment to begin in August 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to the statistics community through teaching, research, professional activities, and service.

Responsibilities

Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics and data science.

Conducting research resulting in publications in high‑quality peer‑reviewed journals within a collaborative faculty‑student environment.

Mentoring students and guiding them towards post‑graduation success.

Contributing to curriculum development by incorporating modern statistical and data science approaches.

Serving on departmental and university‑wide committees.

Required Qualifications

Earned a Ph.D. in statistics or a related field, with all degree requirements completed prior to the starting date.

Demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring students.

Well‑defined research agenda.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong teaching experience with a commitment to excellence in teaching students of diverse backgrounds at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Ability to contribute to undergraduate and graduate curriculum development.

Evidence of potential to supervise undergraduate and master’s level students in research.

Evidence of or strong interest in interdisciplinary, collaborative research.

Plan for seeking internal and external funding.

Compensation Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range: $6,221 to $13,224 monthly. Anticipated hiring range: $7,206 to $7,350 per month. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. CalPERS benefits apply to qualifying employees.
