Senior Civil Project Engineer We are seeking a Senior Civil Project Engineer to lead and support high‑profile land development and public infrastructure projects throughout the San Diego region. This role offers the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team, mentor technical staff, manage major projects, and contribute to long‑term client relationships.
Qualifications
15+ years of directly relevant experience (or 18+ years total industry experience)
Strong communication, leadership, and decision‑making skills
Proven ability to maintain client relationships, secure new work, and support business development
Local San Diego and California experience strongly preferred
Active involvement in professional/community organizations
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and mentor technical staff; provide leadership and direction
Manage project schedules, budgets, contracts, and construction support activities
Prepare fee proposals, scopes of work, and construction bid documents
Lead client and agency coordination for both private development and public works projects
Produce and review conceptual and preliminary engineering designs
Prepare regulatory plans, public improvement plans, and technical documentation
Conduct constructability reviews and support field coordination
Technical Requirements
Strong understanding of California codes, standards, and local jurisdictional procedures
Expertise in land use, zoning, site constraints, and regulatory processes
AutoCAD/Civil 3D proficiency required
Additional Skills
Strong strategic planning, resource allocation, and team management capability
Effective negotiator with strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to train and mentor junior engineers and designers
High level of professionalism and ability to maintain strong relationships with clients, agencies, and internal teams
