As South Florida's only NCI-Designated Cancer Center, the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is a pioneer in groundbreaking cancer research and care. It is home to a dedicated team of more than 3,160 physicians, researchers, and staff working together to discover, develop, and deliver world-class care. Research Programs are supported by seven highly specialized Shared Resources, each providing access to technologies and expertise in a specific focus area. Among them, the Onco‑Genomics Shared Resource (OGSR) provides access to state‑of‑the‑art research services for studying the genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, and metagenomics of cancer.
Position Summary We are seeking an individual with laboratory experience in molecular biology to join our busy team in the OGSR as a Core Facility Research Specialist 2. Laboratory tasks will align with your prior experience and can include running NGS library prep and sequencing, single‑cell sample QC, capture and stabilization, loading and monitoring spatial biology platforms, nucleic acid extraction and purification, and quality assessment. Essential administrative tasks encompass the tracking and processing of project requests, the interpretation and reporting of assay performance, and data handover. This position interfaces with Cancer Center investigators and their laboratory members, as well as staff of other Sylvester Shared Resources. The OGSR is well resourced and offers excellent opportunities for early‑career training in technologies at the forefront of genomics. Key instrumentation includes an Illumina NovaSeq X Plus, Bruker Spatial Biology GeoMx and CosMx systems, 10x Genomics Chromium X and Visium CytAssist platforms, Mission Bio Tapestri, Revvity Zephyr, and Hamilton Vantage liquid handlers, a Thermo KingFisher Apex and Qiagen digital PCR. Hands‑on experience with specific NGS modalities (e.g., single‑cell or metagenomics) or with any of the instrumentation listed above will be an advantage.
