Manufacturing Machining Engineer III – Textron Systems Textron Systems, part of Textron, a $14 billion multi‑industry company with 35,000 employees worldwide, is looking for a Manufacturing Machining Engineer III to lead and optimize operations within our machine shop in Wilmington, MA, ensuring efficient production of precision aerospace and defense components.

About This Role In this role you will:

Serve as the primary engineering interface for the machine shop, supporting both prototype and full‑rate production programs.

Collaborate with machinists and design engineers to review engineering drawings, assess manufacturability, and develop accurate cost and time estimates.

Conduct capacity and utilization analysis to identify opportunities for improved throughput and efficiency.

Evaluate the life cycle and performance of machining equipment, recommend future capital investments and capability studies.

Lead the integration of Solumina (MES) to monitor and improve machine shop performance metrics.

Streamline work order flow: resource load personnel and equipment to align with production and Factory Manager priorities.

Maintain compliance with all tooling manuals and contractual tooling requirements, ensuring traceability and readiness.

Support development of machining processes for metal and exotic material components, optimizing traditional lathes, mills, and 3‑5‑axis CNC machining centers.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering (required).

Minimum 5 years of experience in precision machining or defense manufacturing environments (preferred).

Working knowledge of CNC machining, programming, tooling design and management.

Strong understanding of GD&T (required).

Experience with ERP/MES systems; Solumina experience is preferred.

Familiarity with AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements.

U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
