We are looking for a Power Electronics Engineer to take the lead on designing, modelling, prototyping and experimentally validating Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) converters and other multilevel power converter systems. The engineer will be responsible for the entire development process, including simulation, hardware realisation, testing and technical documentation, while also contributing to scientific publications and the generation of intellectual property. This role is pivotal to our efforts in advancing our high-efficiency, high-reliability power conversion technologies for applications such as renewable energy, motor drives and grid-tied systems.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Take ownership of converter designs from concept through to prototype and validation

Evaluate trade-offs in topology selection, device choice (e.g. silicon, silicon carbide, gallium nitride) and control strategies

Develop detailed electrical and thermal models of NPC converters using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS or LTspice

Perform system-level simulations to evaluate converter performance under various operating conditions

Design and implement advanced modulation and control schemes in firmware or DSP/FPGA

Conduct experimental measurements including voltage/current waveforms, switching behaviour, thermal performance and total harmonic distortion analysis

Prepare detailed technical reports summarising simulation results and experimental findings

Collaborate on research papers and white papers and contribute to patent applications

Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and researchers

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field

Previous experience in power converter development

Expertise in multilevel converter topologies (especially NPC), gate drive design and protection

Hands-on experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSpice or equivalent

Good knowledge of programming languages such as Python and C

Basic proficiency in building and testing power electronics hardware

Familiarity with microcontrollers, DSPs and/or FPGAs is advantageous
