Part-time Pilates Instructor UCSF Fitness and Recreation

Job Responsibilities

Prepare curriculum and teach group fitness classes. Complete ancillary administrative records and assist with promotions. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Attend staff meetings and in‑house training as required. Annually, contribute to the assessment of the class and personal performance evaluation. Remain current in industry standards prescribed by supervisor. Behave in a professional manner, work as a team player, and adhere to facility policies.

Responsibilities include:

Documented completion of a minimum 450‑hours Comprehensive Pilates teacher‑training program (preferred)

American CPR certification or obtain within 30 days of hire (required)

Nationally recognized Pilates certification (required)

Previous Pilates teacher experience in a gym/health club environment (preferred)

Responsible for building and maintaining a member/client business

Required Qualifications

Working knowledge of program activity practices and procedures.

Verbal and written communication skills in English, active listening, dynamic flexibility, critical thinking, multitask and time‑management skills.

Ability to exercise independent sound judgment and employ reasoning skills.

Client service‑mindful, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills.

Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Exercise Science or a related field of study.

Documented completion of a minimum 450‑hours Comprehensive Pilates teacher‑training program.

One year experience teaching on all Pilates apparatus and/or having completed Pilates Teacher training with a minimum of 450 hours.

Knowledge of campus policies and procedures.

Basic skills in computer programs relevant to job duties.

Rehab or injury management experience.

License/Certification

American CPR certification or obtain within 30 days of hire

Nationally recognized Pilates certification

Note : This is a limited position and ends 1 year from date of hire, with potential to renew annually.
