Base pay range:

$37,336.00 – $62,046.40 per year

Responsibilities

Provide protective services for patients, families, staff, and property of Children's National Health System.

Respond to emergency situations while enforcing hospital policies and District of Columbia law.

Maintain a tactful and courteous demeanor while exercising duties.

Perform access control using state‑of‑the‑art technology to ensure safety.

Conduct security patrols of the entire campus to proactively identify and mitigate risks.

Collaborate with medical professionals to advance patient safety.

Immediately notify supervisors of security/safety‑related problems or issues.

Adhere to post orders for all fixed and patrol positions.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (Required).

Experience:

2 years as a Special Police Officer (Preferred).

Licenses & Certifications:

Special Police Officer commission from the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department; Certified CPR (Required).

Required Skills & Knowledge

Valid U.S. driver’s license.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods.

Ability to climb stairs in response to emergency situations.

Ability to wear department‑issued body armor.

Ability to work outdoors if necessary.

Ability to handle volatile situations under stressful conditions.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Excellent customer service skills.

Knowledge of the criminal code in Washington, DC.

Experience working as an emergency responder (law enforcement, fire/rescue, military).

Knowledge of HIPAA rules and restrictions.
