Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Highly self-directed with an attention to detail and ability to organize effectively. Resourceful, innovative, helpful, diligent, persisten, and willingness to work with colleagues and students.

Successful experience managing or directing the athletic programs or a school district preferred.

Successful Supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge of athletics, athletic programs, and physical fitness.

Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding school district athletic programs, safety and health, and other areas under responsibility.

Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications.

Ability to evaluate, develop and implement athletic programs, activities and events, and make effective recommendations related to those areas.

Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.

Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

MENTION: ATHLETIC DIRECTOR 2025‑2026 SCHOOL YEAR POSITION: Athletic Director – Mesa Middle School

STIPEND: Middle School Athletic Director Stipend: $4,100/yr

Athletic Salary Schedule information listed on page 3 of the Certified Salary Schedule.

POSITION PURPOSE To manage and coordinate athletic activities and sports programs to promote athletics and physical fitness as positive extra‑curricular activities, and to ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to participate and share in the benefits of the district’s athletic programs.

DESCRIPTION Under the direct supervision of the middle school principal, the athletic director will assist in the planning, development, and implementation of the policies, regulations, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to a school site interscholastic sports program. The athletic director will serve as a resource to administrators and interscholastic sports personnel concerning sports and recreation activities, and other related functions as directed.

The Athletic Director will be the primary educator, overseer, enforcer, and interpreter of Athletic regulations. The Athletic Director will utilize all the resources available to establish a cooperative relationship with parents, staff members and administrators to support each student’s opportunity to learn and grow in educational and life experiences. The goal of the Athletic Director is to provide overall leadership and coordination among the various sports and provide student athletes with a positive competitive experience.
