As a Mechatronic Test Engineer at Robust AI, you will join a small fast-paced team working to design, test, and validate the next generation of warehouse robotic systems. Working with cross-functional engineers, you will develop and execute comprehensive test protocols for integrated mechatronic systems including sensors, actuators, control systems, and mechanical assemblies. You are someone who is excited about validating complex electromechanical systems, identifying failure modes, and ensuring performance meets specifications. You are comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment and are able to pivot effectively. The base pay range for this role is between $150,000 and $200,000, dependent on your skills, qualifications and experience.

Main responsibilities

Develop and execute test plans for mechatronic systems at the component, subsystem, and robot level

Validate sensor integration, actuator performance, and control system functionality

Conduct performance testing of electromechanical assemblies including motors, encoders, and vision systems

Build and maintain test fixtures and automation for repetitive validation tasks

Troubleshoot hardware and software integration issues during testing

Analyze test data and provide actionable feedback to mechanical, electrical, and software teams

Document test procedures, results, and recommendations for design improvements

Support FMEA activities and risk assessment for mechatronic subsystems

What you'll bring to the table

4+ years of experience in mechatronic testing, robotics validation, or related field

Hands‑on experience testing integrated electromechanical systems (sensors, actuators, motors, control systems)

Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, torque sensors, thermocouples and data acquisition systems

Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, and control theory

Experience with CAD tools and reading technical drawings

Familiarity with robotics platforms, automation systems, or manufacturing equipment

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills

Ability to work effectively cross‑functionally (mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing teams)

Experience with test automation, scripting (Python preferred), or lab instrumentation is a plus
