Job Title: Electrical Designer
Location: Rockville, MD
Travel: 10%
Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri
Worksite: Local candidates – Hybrid, Nonlocal candidates – Remote
Overview This role focuses on the design and drafting of 3D models and 2D drawings for reactor and plant projects. It requires coordination with responsible engineers and adherence to CAD data management standards.
Responsibilities
Create 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings of equipment, plant layout, and structures (e.g., PFDs, P&IDs, isometric drawings).
Assess models for manufacturability, assembly, and integration.
Prepare and update manufacturing drawings and support the engineering group’s drafting activities.
Maintain design documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, and design calculations.
Apply XE processes, procedures, and best CAD practices to ensure consistency and standardization.
Collaborate on planning, scheduling, and organization of detailed engineering phases.
Maintain compatibility within X‑energy’s PLM, PDE, and 3D CAD applications.
Specialize in one or more areas (e.g., component design, plant layout integration) as assigned.
Provide professional communication and lead small design teams where appropriate.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.
Specialization Areas (examples)
Component/Systems Design – develop mechanical concepts, geometries, and interfaces for SSCs.
Equipment/Plant Layout Integration – use S3D or NX for piping, equipment layout, and interference resolution.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in drafting, CAD, engineering, or related field, or high school diploma with equivalent experience.
At least one of the following skills:
Experience with 3D CAD software (UG/NX, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
Experience with 2D CAD software (AutoCAD, SmartPlant Electrical, Revit, etc.).
Knowledge of electrical engineering codes and safety standards.
Experience with PLM software (Teamcenter, Windchill, etc.).
Approximately ten years of CAD/3D drafting experience or equivalent X‑energy performance experience.
Compensation Estimated salary range: $99,750 – $166,250 (base only; benefits not included).
