Job Overview The role is responsible for the development and design of the site, layout, buildings and structures of the Xe-100 plant. This includes concept development and evaluation, and analysis and design of systems, structures and components (SSCs). The role collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, suppliers, construction contractors and other project stakeholders to support key objectives in deploying the Xe-100 plant with advantages in safety, reliability, economics and sustainability.

Responsibilities

Support development of plant site/layout and design of buildings/structures through final design and construction of the Xe-100 plant.

Perform, manage, and oversee engineering and construction of the site and building structures for the Xe-100 project, including planning, monitoring, and directing of the complete engineering efforts through all development life cycles.

Apply engineering principles, codes and standards and best practices to design the site, buildings and structures for hazards including seismic, flood and wind.

Define, manage, and verify the requirements for the site, buildings and structures, ensuring functionality throughout the plant life cycle and addressing constructability, testability, reliability, maintainability, safety, flexibility, and interoperability.

Develop innovative concepts that can be implemented cost‑effectively and schedule‑consciously while meeting customer needs.

Apply risk‑informed performance‑based (RIPB) design criteria and assist other teams with risk and hazard assessments such as PRA, FMEA, and HAZOP.

Work with construction teams to evaluate constructability, sequencing, material take‑off, cost estimate, schedule development, and modularization concepts for the Xe‑100 plant.

Identify, define, and manage interfaces with internal and external teams to advance the Xe‑100 design.

Ensure compliance with all applicable local, national, and international codes, regulations, and quality standards.

Specialize in one or more of the following areas: Design (civil, structural, architectural, CAD modeling) or Analysis (structural analysis, V&V plans, tool qualification).

Support assessment of SSCs for manufacturability, assembly, and integration considerations.

Write and develop design documentation including basis documents, technical reports, calculations, and drawings in accordance with applicable procedures.

Perform work in accordance with X‑energy quality procedures for design and configuration management to meet project quality requirements.

Provide independent reviews and acceptance reviews of engineering deliverables and data.

Maintain a professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.

Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural/architectural engineering or related degree from an accredited institution.

Experience with analysis, design, evaluation, and/or construction of civil structures, including industrial structures, commercial and residential buildings, power generation facilities, and infrastructure.

Understanding of civil engineering fundamentals such as mechanics, materials, construction techniques, codes and standards, environmental and economic impact, and professional ethics.

Experience and/or knowledge in a minimum of one of the following areas:

Design – Experience with site development, grading, roadway, survey, stormwater, hydrology or soil mechanics; or design of steel structures, concrete structures or composite structures; or architectural design of claddings, insulation, automation, building components or waterproofing; or drafting using 2D/3D CAD/BIM.

Analysis – Experience with structural analysis using hand calculations and/or finite element analysis (FEA) software such as ANSYS, LS‑DYNA, ABAQUS, ADINA, OpenSees; proficiency with engineering hand calculations.

Preferred Skills

Experience in the nuclear energy or power generation industry.

A registered Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Experience with design of steel, concrete, composite structures and foundations.

Experience with Staad.Pro, SAP2000, MathCAD and L‑Pile.

Familiarity with ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, AISC 341, AWS D1.1/D1.4, ASCE 4/43, ACI 349, and AISC N690.

Compensation Level IV: $115,050-191,750 / Level V: $129,975-216,625
