The Engineering Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all engineering activities within a manufacturing operation. This role ensures that engineering initiatives, capital projects, process improvements, and operational support efforts align with organizational goals, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead and manage all aspects of engineering, including mechanical, electrical, process, and systems engineering functions.
Drive facility expansion efforts, capacity improvements, and major equipment or technology upgrades.
Oversee the procurement, installation, and implementation of new processes, machinery, and manufacturing technologies.
Provide engineering support to ongoing production operations, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring continuity of manufacturing output.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Develop and enforce engineering standards, project management methodologies, and best practices across the department.
Manage project portfolios, budgets, timelines, resources, and risk assessments.
Identify and resolve complex technical, operational, and organizational challenges.
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, and cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
Coach, mentor, and develop engineering staff, providing performance feedback and supporting career growth.
Foster open communication, encourage collaboration, and support continuous improvement efforts across the organization.
Assist other teams in applying statistical and analytical methods for business decision-making.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
Ten or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Five or more years of management experience preferred, ideally in a technical, industrial, or production setting.
Strong knowledge of engineering principles, standards, and manufacturing practices.
Experience managing budgets, resources, and engineering teams to achieve operational and financial objectives.
Demonstrated ability to organize work, prioritize projects, and make timely technical and business decisions.
Proven experience solving complex technical and operational problems in a production environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and departments.
Experience coaching and developing engineering personnel and leading cross-functional improvement initiatives.
Ability to influence, lead, and drive business improvement activities proactively.
Strong awareness of industry best practices, current technologies, and manufacturing advancements.
Ability to travel as needed.
