Staff Product Engineer, Americas Location: Seattle, WA

Base pay range:

$190,000.00/yr - $275,000.00/yr

About the Role

As a Staff Product Engineer at Ashby, you will take ownership of a large portion of one of our products and lead projects end‑to‑end. You will research competitors, write product specifications, Design wireframes, and implement solutions alongside product and design teams. Your work will directly impact tens of thousands of daily users and our growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

Develop high‑quality, reusable building blocks across the stack.

Own end‑to‑end product lifecycle—from concept to shipping.

Write product specs and wireframes that guide designers and engineers.

Conduct research, interview users, and translate insights into architecture.

Build and maintain performant, scalable backend services.

Collaborate closely with cross‑functional stakeholders, keeping them informed.

Advocate for tools, process, and abstractions that empower the engineering team.

Past Projects (examples of what staff engineers have built)

Automated interview scheduling that calculates and presents optimal interview slots to candidates.

Generalized declarative filter architecture allowing creation of complex filters that compile to SQL backend.

Full‑stack signing‑off feature that lets users complete offer acceptance within Ashby.

Qualifications

Comfort across the technology stack, from frontend to infrastructure.

Experience delivering features with product and technical ambiguity.

Strong balance of speed and quality, with a track record of shipping high‑quality software.

Ambition to continuously improve skills and take ownership of projects.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills; ability to vet decisions with stakeholders.

Proactive in creating leverage—automation, abstractions, and tooling—improving engineering productivity.
