Partnering with Finance Leaders to Build High-Performing Teams
Our client is looking for a Senior Insurance Accountant. This position is hybrid located in the financial district. Salary: $85,000 - $115,000 + bonus + equity.
Responsibilities:
Manage monthly posting and reconciliation for written and earned premium, unearned premium, commissions, losses/LAE, and related accruals. Oversee producer, carrier, and TPA subledgers, along with trust and bank account reconciliations.
Lead an accurate and timely monthly and quarterly close process. Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, roll-forwards, and variance analyses. Enhance internal controls throughout the close cycle.
Contribute to GAAP and statutory financial reporting, including regulatory submissions such as NAIC filings and state insurance department requirements. Partner with external auditors to support audit activities.
Work with Product, Engineering, and FP&A teams to strengthen data flows from policy and claims systems into the general ledger. Support automation initiatives and improve visibility into financial KPIs.
Assist with premium tax data preparation and filing activities. Maintain thorough documentation for audits, examinations, and related compliance reviews.
Required Qualifications:
5–8+ years in insurance accounting or in public accounting with insurance clients. Solid understanding of P&C insurance accounting principles, GAAP, and statutory/NAIC requirements.
Strong general ledger and financial reporting capabilities; adept at subledger reconciliations; expert-level Excel skills. Familiarity with modern ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and reporting platforms is a plus.
Demonstrated success working with Data Science, Engineering, and FP&A teams. Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
