Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic
Director of Finance
to lead the accounting and finance function, provide strong financial oversight, and drive continuous improvement across processes, controls, and reporting. The Director of Finance will ensure GAAP compliance, maintain a strong internal control environment, partner with internal stakeholders, and support operational and strategic decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management
Oversee the Finance & Accounting function, including direct management of the Assistant Controller/Accounting Manager and oversight of AP, AR, payroll, and general accounting staff.
Provide coaching, professional development, and mentorship to the finance team to foster a high‑performing, collaborative environment.
Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all accounting operations.
Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Ensure GAAP‑compliant financial statements and effective documentation to support internal and external audits.
Review key accounting outputs including invoicing, cash receipts, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, fixed asset accounting, payroll, MSOs, warranty documentation, and tax‑related submissions.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Establish, enhance, and monitor internal controls; conduct periodic audits to ensure effectiveness and SOX alignment.
Partner with corporate tax for audits, compliance, and required reporting.
Oversee control and documentation of international credit instruments (L/Cs, drafts, wire transfers, etc.) and support bid/bond requirements.
Process Optimization & Strategic Initiatives
Drive standardization and process improvement across accounting workflows; develop and implement SOPs and best practices.
Support development of the Annual Operating Plan in partnership with leadership.
Collaborate cross‑functionally to provide financial insights, operational support, and strategic recommendations.
Lead special projects and other initiatives assigned by executive leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and SOX requirements.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, partner, and drive results in a team‑oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA licensure strongly preferred.
Background in manufacturing, publicly traded companies, or construction/land development environments.
