Recruiting Manager | Accounting, Finance, and HR -San Diego/Orange County, Houston/Dallas, Seattle, & Fully Remote Our large publicly held client is seeking a Senior Accountant Consultant to join them for 3+ months to start in January 2026. This role will focus on general ledger accounting, with specific responsibilities around debt, credit card transactions, and contingent workforce accounting. This position requires a hands‑on, high‑volume work environment, where accuracy, efficiency, and the ability to manage large sets of data are key. The ideal candidate will have experience with high‑volume journal entries (JEs), reconciliations, and workpapers. The candidate should be ready to step into a structured accounting environment with defined processes and procedures.
The role requires advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivots) and familiarity with systems for managing debt and liquidity data. The position also offers growth opportunities for those ready to step up into more senior leadership or managerial responsibilities over time.
Compensation:
$65 to $75 per hour W2
Location:
Highly prefer someone local to San Diego who can work a hybrid schedule; will consider fully remote applicants who reside in the PST zone and fit all requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage accounting for debt‑related transactions, including reviewing and reconciling data from various financial systems.
Oversee credit card accounting processes, ensuring proper recording and reconciliation of transactions.
Manage and reconcile accounting for contingent workforce expenses, ensuring timely and accurate postings to the GL.
Prepare, process, and post a large number of journal entries (JEs) each month.
Conduct detailed reconciliations, including the preparation of workpapers, to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.
Use financial systems to download reports and pull data from multiple sources.
Compile and organize data into workpapers and perform data analysis to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Review and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal controls.
Take initiative to train and enhance knowledge during downtime by reviewing SOPs, workpapers, and desktop procedures.
Provide significant support during the month‑end close process, including high‑volume reconciliation, data entry, and reporting.
Demonstrate flexibility and commitment by working extra hours (including overtime) during peak periods, particularly around close.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in GL accounting, with a focus on debt, credit cards, or contingent workforce accounting.
Strong ability to manage high‑volume tasks, including journal entries and reconciliations.
Detail‑oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment, particularly during month‑end close.
Ability to work independently, self‑train, and improve processes as needed.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience in a managerial role or leadership role is a plus — must have a willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Knowledge of SOP's, internal controls, and best practices in financial accounting.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
