Base Pay Range $45.00/hr - $70.00/hr

Location Fully onsite in San Diego

Key Responsibilities

Own the full-cycle general ledger process, including journal entries for R&D activities, inventory/lab supplies, payroll allocations, and other biotech-specific transactions.

Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.

Prepare and review account reconciliations, flux analyses, and supporting documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Prepare and analyze accruals for research projects, CRO/CMO expenses, clinical trial activities, and scientific vendor services.

Support the development of scalable accrual methodologies aligned with the needs of a biosciences R&D organization.

Assist with preparation of financial statements, management reports, and materials for audit, regulatory submissions, and board reporting.

Lead or support ERP and financial system implementations, enhancements, and integrations as the company scales.

Improve accounting workflows, internal controls, and documentation to maintain compliance with GAAP and biotech regulatory expectations.

Collaborate with R&D, Operations, FP&A, and IT to streamline data flow across scientific and financial systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA eligibility strongly preferred.

4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within the biosciences, biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries.

Demonstrated expertise in full-cycle general ledger accounting and accrual-based financial reporting.

Experience participating in or leading ERP/system implementations.

Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.

Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability.

Excellent attention to detail, organization, communication, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
