In‑person, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, some weekend work required.

Wage Range:

$150,000.00 – $170,000.00, salaried, exempt

Position Overview The Chief Health and Wellness Officer (CHWO) is responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of a comprehensive system of care for Health and Wellness Services across all sites and services of NARA NW. The CHWO facilitates positive relationships and integration among medical, dental, pharmacy, mental health, substance use, and traditional programs. The CHWO ensures quality medical/dental outcomes and clinical excellence within an integrated health and whole‑person care environment.

The CHWO provides effective leadership, facilitates staff interactions, and aligns programming with administration, governance rules, and regulations to ensure healthcare providers operate efficiently according to accepted best practices. The CHWO collaborates with Senior Leadership to maintain readiness for regulatory and accrediting bodies and to adopt clinical process improvement initiatives. As a senior leadership team member, the CHWO stays informed of trends in primary care and community health, provides updates to the team, and represents the organization at external meetings.

What You Will Do

Ensure traditional appropriateness of services.

Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer to adopt appropriate clinical policies and standardize care across the organization.

Ensure clinical operations and workflow processes are effectively performed and providers provide the best care possible.

Ensure all treatment activities meet or exceed funding source requirements and county, state, and federal regulations.

Develop and maintain access to health, dental, and pharmacy services at residential, outpatient, and housing program sites as appropriate, and at clinical health sites and throughout the community.

Assist the CMO with hiring and termination of all health, dental, pharmacy, and clinic staff.

Monitor performance processes of health, dental, and pharmacy staff to ensure quality outcomes.

Support opportunities for staff training and professional development.

Ensure providers maintain credentials and privilege compliance.

Assist the CMO to manage department budget, maximize revenue, EHR efficiency, and client services.

Oversee implementation, development, and compliance of all grants, grant components, and contracts within the departments.

Facilitate clear communication, coordination, collaboration, and education across departments, disciplines, and internal and external partners.

Ensure programs meet documentation, data collection, and report‑writing requirements.

Collaborate with the Director of Facilities to ensure maintenance, care, and OSHA compliance of the facility.

Maintain compliance with NARA NW Quality Assurance Plan and ensure QA methodology is maintained in all elements of treatment service delivery.

Provide administrative direction and supervision, including development and review of treatment policies and procedures, approval of treatment schedules, and coordination of staff in‑service trainings.

Provide monthly individual administrative supervision to the Medical, Dental, and Pharmacy managers/directors.

Act as a liaison with local, county, state, and federal agencies and organizations as directed by the CEO.

Develop and maintain relationships with the 9 Oregon tribes and other tribes throughout the country.

Identify opportunities for process and performance improvement and work with the Quality Management Team and Senior Leadership Team to implement solutions.

Contribute to clinical risk management planning and practice.

Work collaboratively and maintain professional boundaries with clients, staff, and team members, treating everyone with respect and dignity at all times.

Perform other duties as assigned.
