Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and review of state composite, partnership, and withholding tax filings
Manage the tax compliance calendar and oversee the end-to-end process for quarterly and annual tax estimates and extensions
Oversee the calculation of state apportionment, state source income, and other related tax computations
Analyze state tax law changes and assess their impact on filing requirements and internal processes
Collaborate with the technology team to guide the implementation of changes to partner tax deliverables; actively participate in the state K-1 processing effort, including form modifications and data integrity testing
Mentor and develop a team of tax professionals, fostering their growth and performance; support tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities for process improvements
Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG’s respectful and courteous work environment
Qualifications
Minimum five years of progressive tax experience, with demonstrated expertise in partnership tax filings (Form 1065, K-1s, etc.) and multi-state tax issues
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
Strong technological aptitude, including expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with tax software like Thomson Reuters GoSystem
Demonstrated interest and capability in leveraging data analytics (Alteryx, Power BI) and AI to innovate and improve tax processes
Exceptional leadership and mentoring skills with a passion for developing and managing a high-performing team; proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment while managing competing deadlines effectively
Strong project management skills with the ability to adapt to evolving priorities and project scopes; willingness and flexibility to work overtime during peak tax compliance period to meet critical deadlines
