Head of Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Engineering Search
Position Summary
The National Logistics Director leads the U.S. logistics, warehousing, and distribution network for a major consumer electronics and appliances manufacturer. This role oversees all 3PL facilities, national distribution centers, and retailer-based warehouses (Home Depot, Lowe’s, Costco, etc.). The director ensures operational excellence, cost efficiency, and high service levels across inbound supply, inventory, transportation, and order fulfillment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a national logistics strategy supporting company growth and retail requirements.
Optimize the distribution network (in-house + 3PL DCs) for cost, speed, and scalability.
Lead initiatives to improve service levels, reduce logistics cost, and enhance network visibility.
Warehouse & 3PL Operations
Oversee multi-site warehousing operations, including 3PL–operated DCs and retailer-affiliated warehouses.
Manage 3PL relationships, performance, SLAs, contracts, and capacity planning.
Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards across all sites.
Direct nationwide inventory management to ensure accuracy, availability, and balance between stock levels and demand.
Coordinate inbound product flow from manufacturing and suppliers with outbound retail and e-commerce fulfillment.
Meet retailer shipping, labeling, and compliance requirements.
Negotiate carrier contracts and drive cost-efficient, on-time transportation performance.
Monitor freight KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
Systems & Process Improvement
Oversee the use and optimization of logistics systems (WMS, TMS, ERP).
Promote standard operating procedures, automation, and continuous improvement across the network.
Use data and KPIs to identify operational opportunities and drive change.
Financial & Budget Oversight
Own the logistics budget, including warehousing, transportation, and 3PL costs.
Forecast, track, and reduce logistics expenses while supporting service goals.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Lead and develop a national logistics organization.
Collaborate with supply chain, manufacturing, sales, retail account teams, and finance.
Communicate logistics performance and initiatives to executive leadership.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
10+ years of progressive logistics/supply chain experience with multi-site or national distribution oversight.
Strong experience with 3PL management, retail distribution (Home Depot, Lowe’s, Costco, Best Buy, etc.), and big-box retailer compliance.
Proven success in transportation management, warehouse operations, and cost optimization.
Expertise with WMS/TMS/ERP systems and logistics reporting tools.
Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and vendor-management skills.
