Position Summary The Director of Demand Planning is responsible for leading the development and execution of demand forecasts to support strategic planning, inventory optimization, and customer service excellence. This role drives cross-functional collaboration across Sales, Category Management, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure alignment between demand plans and overall business objectives. The Director will lead a team of demand planners and play a critical role in the company’s Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Lead the demand planning function within the SIOP process, ensuring integration with supply, inventory, and financial planning.

Drive continuous improvement in forecast accuracy and demand planning processes.

Communicate strategic demand plans to inform manufacturing and distribution capacity strategies.

Oversee the creation of statistical and consensus-based forecasts using historical sales data, market trends, and customer insights.

Analyze demand patterns and identify risks and opportunities to support proactive decision‑making.

Monitor forecast performance metrics (e.g., forecast accuracy, bias, fill rate) and implement corrective actions as needed.

Partner with Sales and Category Management teams to gather input and align on forecast assumptions.

Collaborate with Supply Chain Operations to ensure demand plans are executable and aligned with operational constraints.

Facilitate monthly demand review meetings and contribute to executive-level SIOP discussions.

Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.

Establish clear KPIs and performance metrics to drive accountability and results.

Lead the implementation and optimization of demand planning tools (e.g., Microsoft D365).

Ensure data integrity and leverage analytics to support strategic decision‑making.

Partner with the Business Intelligence (BI) team to develop and enhance reporting capabilities.

Requirements

10+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain management.

APICS or IBF certification preferred.

Proven leadership experience in a complex, multi‑site operation.

Strong analytical skills and proficiency in forecasting tools and ERP systems.

Experience with machine learning or AI‑based forecasting models preferred.

Familiarity with advanced analytics platforms and data visualization tools.

Experience with SIOP/IBP processes and cross‑functional planning.

Proven ability to lead change initiatives and drive process transformation.

Excellent communication skills, with a track record of influencing and motivating senior‑level stakeholders.
