Field EMS Ride‑Alongs & Site Visits
Remote Work: virtual meetings, protocol reviews, QI documentation
General Responsibilities
Provide EMS medical direction and serve as an EMS medical advisor.
Support countywide EMS system oversight, including dispatch, fire, and ambulance services.
Participate in the EMS advisory board, protocol committees, and multidisciplinary meetings.
Develop and deliver EMS education and training programs.
Contribute to the countywide Quality Improvement (QI) program.
Conduct case reviews and evaluate provider performance.
Participate in ride‑alongs, dispatch sit‑alongs, and EMS field evaluations.
Participate in a rotating 24/7 on‑call schedule for urgent EMS matters.
Assist with development of protocols, disaster response plans, mobile integrated healthcare (MIH), telemedicine, and data dashboards.
Promote provider wellness, just culture, and system equity.
Required Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. degree
Valid Oregon medical license (unrestricted)
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine or EMS
Current DEA license
Eligible to serve as Oregon EMS Physician Supervisor (per state requirements)
Required Experience
Dispatch Centers (C-COM & LOCOM)
Oversee medical dispatch protocols
Conduct dispatcher case reviews and performance evaluation
Support accreditation and QI reviews
Oversee EMS provider skill evaluations
Attend monthly EMS/QI meetings
Conduct agency‑specific training and case reviews
Oversee AED compliance
Provide medical oversight and protocol guidance
Clinical Emergency Medicine practice
EMS system oversight experience
