Job Overview McDonald’s Global Technology is at the forefront of transformative technology, powering tomorrow’s feel‑good moments. The Cloud Platform Engineer II role is part of the Cloud Ecosystem team in Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations. The position reports to the Cloud Platform Senior Manager and focuses on supporting and maturing an Enterprise DevOps pipeline in the cloud.

Core responsibilities

include automating provisioning of cloud environments, researching and designing automation workflows, embedding with development teams, driving technological feasibility studies, and leading compliance automation and policy‑as‑code initiatives. The engineer will build, implement, and support tools that improve customer experience while working well in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

Automate provisioning of cloud environments through pipeline engineering using Terraform, Chef, Puppet and other tools.

Research, analyze, design, develop and support high‑quality automation workflows in the cloud platform.

Collaborate with teams to strategize, consult, and prototype best practices for CI/CD and cloud application deployments.

Lead proof of concepts and conduct technical feasibility studies for business requirements.

Stay current on emerging technologies and propose their use in current and upcoming projects.

Lead and facilitate compliance automation and policy‑as‑code to streamline cloud governance.

Provide excellent customer service and world‑class support to internal and external customers.

Communicate project health, risks, and issues to stakeholders, sponsors, and management.

Resolve most conflicts between timeline, budget, and scope independently, escalating complex issues to senior management.

Identify and direct changes through appropriate review and approval mechanisms.

Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions to improve service performance, durability, cost, and security.

Build, implement, and support tools that improve customer experience.

Qualifications

4+ years of cloud development and support experience (AWS or GCP) and a Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree.

Experience developing design specifications, test plans, and protocols.

Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Professional level certification (AWS DevOps Professional, GCP Kubernetes Professional) or similar is a plus.

Experience in software development (e.g., C#, .NET, .NET Core) or scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell).

Associate GCP Certification; Associate AWS certifications (Developer, Solution Architect, or SysOps Administrator Associate).

Good knowledge of IaaS and PaaS offerings in AWS and/or GCP.

Good knowledge of Infrastructure‑as‑Code and associated technologies.

Strong experience in Kubernetes; knowledge of GKE, EKS.

Innate desire to automate everything you touch.

Self‑starter, able to devise and execute solutions while coordinating with other teams.

Infrastructure experience is a plus.

Ability to create system and process flow diagrams, data flow diagrams, sequence and UML diagrams, and inter‑ and intra‑system dependencies within the functional domain.

Knowledge of industry trends and ability to apply them to architectural needs.

Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical staff.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience building templates and pipelines while complying with static code analysis tools and security scanners; experience with CI/CD tools.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience — scripting and automation via Bash, JSON templates, etc.

Strong experience building Kubernetes environment.

Salary Range: $104,482.00 – $130,602.00 per year. The final amount may vary based on experience and other factors.
