Description
Magnolia Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is looking for individuals that would be a good fit for our new position in Commercial Special Project department. The Lead Man is a field-based working leader who supports the Foreman by directing day-to-day labor efforts, executing high-skill installs, and managing workflow in their designated areas. This role balances productivity, mentorship, and quality assurance while keeping the crew focused and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and support Apprentices throughout the day
Execute critical installation tasks such as offsets, transitions, equipment setting, and rough‑ins
Interpret layouts, prints, and specifications to guide crew activities
Relay production updates, material shortages, and field issues to the Foreman
Verify layout accuracy, pipe support spacing, and duct alignment before installation
Assist in staging materials, tools, and equipment for assigned zones
Maintain a clean and organized work zone and enforce safety compliance
Mentor Apprentices by demonstrating techniques, assigning tasks, and reviewing their work
Coordinate with Foreman to prepare for inspections, testing, and project handoffs
Provide informal feedback on crew performance and labor needs
Requirements
4–6 years experience in the HVAC or plumbing trade
Demonstrated leadership ability
Completion of formal apprenticeship program
OSHA 10 required
Strong mechanical instincts and a proactive mindset
