Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure the store is staffed with qualified associates, utilize interviewing skills, and follow hiring practices.
Work with associates in their areas of responsibility; provide ongoing training and development.
Provide opportunities for promotional advancement within the company.
Deliver performance feedback & coaching, including annual reviews in a timely manner.
Facilitate monthly store meetings to include promotions, product knowledge and safety.
Customer Engagement and Satisfaction
Responsible for sales and service of retail staff; lead by example. Able to connect with customers and provide expert knowledge of our products.
Resolve customer concerns/issues promptly.
Inspire our customers with a well maintained and visually exciting garden center.
Operational Tasks § Formulate daily goals to accomplish operational tasks and achieve sales.
Responsible for all inventory results, including maintenance, selection, shrinkage and turn rate.
Involved in all store purchasing, ordering, and receiving to ensure top quality and low-cost pricing.
Follow safe working practices and report any unsafe conditions to regional manager and HR.
Ensure all safety audits & daily inspections are accurately completed in a timely manner.
Education, Prior Work Experience and Specialized Skills and Knowledge Previous management experience in a retail environment required, management in the horticulture industry is a plus.
A strong leadership background that includes motivational skills, verbal & written communication skills and the ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
