Garden City Equity
About the Role
This position is a high‑impact, cross‑functional role serving as a critical bridge between the investment team and the leadership teams of our portfolio companies. You will act as a trusted colleague, partner, mentor, and strategic catalyst—helping portfolio company leaders refine strategy, strengthen execution, and unlock value creation opportunities.
This role requires a rare balance: you are equally comfortable “getting stuff done” tactically and operating as a strategic thought partner to executive teams. Candidates must have proven experience operating in a PE‑backed environment and partnering directly with portfolio company leadership teams to be considered.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary connector between Garden City Equity’s investment team and portfolio company leadership teams
Partner with CEOs and functional leaders to identify, prioritize, and execute value‑creation initiatives
Help leadership teams refine strategic initiatives and translate them into clear operating priorities and executable plans
Support common value‑growth drivers and initiatives across the portfolio (e.g., growth strategy, commercial execution, pricing, operational efficiency, talent, systems/standard operating processes, and strategic planning)
Establish operating cadence and accountability (prioritization, owners, timelines, KPIs/scorecards) to ensure traction and measurable progress
Identify and connect leadership teams with third‑party resources and external consultants as needed
Provide hands‑on support to drive progress on critical initiatives—removing friction, unblocking decisions, and accelerating outcomes
Step in where needed to help teams move from ideas to action (alignment, sequencing, resourcing, implementation support)
Balance being a coach/mentor with being a doer when the situation requires immediate momentum
Leadership Partnership & Communication
Build high‑trust relationships with portfolio leadership teams through consistency, discretion, and follow‑through
Facilitate alignment across stakeholders (portfolio management teams and internal investment team)
Provide clear updates on progress, risks, and needs—helping ensure the right discussions happen at the right time
Requirements
Based in Charlotte, NC (Headquarters)
Former operating role at either a private equity firm or private equity operating company (required)
Proven ability to drive value creation while also supporting day‑to‑day execution and accountability
Strong strategic thinking paired with hands‑on operational instincts (“roll up your sleeves” mentality)
High EQ, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence without authority
Organized, reliable, and comfortable operating across multiple priorities and stakeholders
Values‑aligned and comfortable representing a faith‑based, people‑first organization
