Water Resources EIT (HDR)
HDR is a leading player in sustainable water resource management and is looking for a Water Resources Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our Fisheries Ecohydraulics practice. In this role you will support fisheries projects such as fish passage, water crossings, stream restoration, fish screening, and structures, whilst fostering professional growth and mentorship of junior staff.
Responsibilities
Work under project engineers on the application of various design engineering and modeling techniques in the development of water resource projects for federal, state and local municipalities
Provide project engineering support
Collect, assimilate, and present data in reports, memos, and public forums
Conduct field assessments of streams, wetlands, and estuaries
Assist with design calculations and clearly document design decisions in technical reports
Assist with design plans, specifications, and engineering cost estimates
Work independently and help plan, organize, and assist medium to large teams of professionals and technicians
Assist with hydraulic and hydrologic modeling
Evaluate sediment mobility and bridge scour
Assist with development of habitat complexity designs, including LWM layout and details, and evaluate stability of LWM structures
Focus on hydraulics and hydrology modeling, stormwater collection systems modeling, data collection, assimilation, and presentations
Focus on projects including flood control, river design, stream grade control structures, dike systems, levees, stream channel restoration/rehabilitation, wetland and lake restoration, watershed issues and non-point source loading and point source design
Produce design calculations, draft technical reports and perform water resources studies
Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with stream restoration design concepts
Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software HEC-HMS, WWHM, HEC-RAS 1D/2D, and SRH2D
Experience using WDFW Water Crossing Design Guidelines and WSDOT Hydraulics Manual
Experience working with CAD and GIS software
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of task
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite, standard CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, and hydraulic modeling software
Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of task
