Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Application Engineer to support and enhance Hyatt’s global Customer Relationship Management platform, GEM. GEM delivers a unified view of guest profiles and preferences to key platforms such as CRS, Loyalty Management System, mobile app, and Loyalty web application. A major component includes a Master Data Management (MDM) platform that will be migrated to the cloud soon.
This role reports to the Senior Manager – Data and Application Engineering and plays a critical part in the evolution of Hyatt’s customer data strategy through scalable, cloud‑enabled application development.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy enterprise‑grade Java (J2EE) and web applications end‑to‑end on‑prem and in the cloud.
Support design, testing, and deployment of scalable applications.
Drive continuous improvements for reliability and user experience by adopting new tools and techniques.
Ensure compliance with Hyatt’s Application Engineering standards and security guidelines.
Partner with Engineering Manager, Product Managers, project managers, architects, and business stakeholders to define technical deliverables and milestones.
Collaborate with on‑site, near‑shore, and off‑site team members to support all applications within this platform.
Review code and enforce engineering best practices, ensuring team alignment and adherence.
Support the on‑prem CRM API platform and its migration to the cloud.
Support the on‑prem MDM platform and its migration to the cloud.
Maintain existing SOAP/RESTful APIs.
Integrate data flow across the CRM API platform and external platforms.
Manage CI/CD pipelines and migrate to a cloud‑based CI/CD pipeline for automated builds, deployments, and monitoring.
Demonstrate a commitment to Hyatt’s core values.
Experience and Qualifications
7 years or more of progressively responsible application development experience.
Ability to create reusable components leveraged across multiple applications.
Experience supporting, reviewing application logs, and performing root‑cause analysis.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, planning, and project management skills.
Strong quantitative, analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
A proven record of influencing and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
Self‑directed and self‑motivated with a strong work ethic and integrity.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to define and capture business needs and articulate strategic implications in a clear, persuasive manner.
Experience with front‑end development in large‑scale enterprise Java applications.
Hands‑on cloud application development on AWS using EKS, ECS, EC2, Lambda, S3, IAM, API Gateway, etc.
Hands‑on Azure application development is a plus.
Experience with Kubernetes API development.
Solid experience with enterprise‑level J2EE platforms, J2EE design patterns, SOAP/REST web services.
Proficiency in Java, Python, HTML5, CSS3, Node.js, JavaScript (jQuery).
Strong front‑end and back‑end development skills; expertise in Java design, coding, testing, and debugging.
Strong SQL knowledge including NoSQL and low‑SQL platforms such as Snowflake, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, AuroraDB, DB2.
Experience with Spring Framework, JMS, Dojo, AJAX, Eclipse, Hibernate, JUnit, Struts; XML/JSON data interchange; Subversion/Git; JBoss, Tomcat.
Self‑starter who quickly learns new technologies.
Preferred Skills
Previous consulting experience.
Familiarity with Informatica’s ETL/MDM.
Cloud developer certifications (AWS) – preferred.
Python certification – plus.
Java certification – plus.
Education
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related discipline.
Graduate degree preferred.
