Senior Tax Manager

balanced 40‑hour work week during non‑peak seasons
and approximately
55 hours per week during tax season .
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients—building strong relationships and becoming their primary point of contact for tax planning, compliance, and strategic guidance.
Oversee and manage a substantial volume of engagements and internal initiatives, ensuring deadlines and budget expectations are consistently met.
Maintain proactive, year‑round communication with clients, developing a deep understanding of their businesses and anticipating their needs.
Demonstrate strong technical expertise in relevant tax rules and regulations, providing forward‑thinking tax planning strategies.
Support business development activities and contribute to the firm’s growth.
Review complex tax accruals and tax returns prepared by staff, including Federal and multi‑state filings for corporations, S corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts, estates, and non‑profits.
Cultivate relationships with bankers, attorneys, and other industry professionals while expanding referral networks.
Mentor, train, and delegate effectively to staff and senior accountants, ensuring high‑quality work and professional development.
Qualifications
Minimum 2+ years of public accounting (or related) experience
Bachelor’s Degree and NYS CPA accreditation
Strong business acumen and ability to manage multiple priorities
Experience with QuickBooks, ProSystems, or similar accounting/tax software
Proven management and leadership skills, including delegation, workflow oversight, review processes, and mentoring
Ability to work on‑site when required and occasionally travel to client locations
