GIS (Geographic Information System) has become a core data and applications set for the utility, essential to many business units in the execution of their work. This position is a journey level member of the GIS Spatial Analytics Team, part of the Utility Technology Division at Seattle City Light. This position is responsible for preparing, maintaining and revising GIS information, maps and applications for internal and external customers of Seattle City Light. This position will report to the Spatial Analytics Supervisor.
Fulfills map and data requests using Esri software.
Supports internal customer business processes leveraging GIS.
Configures and administers Esri Portal and AGOL software to support business processes in Seattle City Light.
Provides end user training for GIS applications.
Develops, tests, and deploys GIS applications and tools using ESRI technologies such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS API for JavaScript.
Prepares, maintains, and revises records, maps, programs and schedules.
Distributes, assists and checks work of other specialists and provides training.
Performs other related duties of comparable level/type as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Requiresfouryearselectrical engineeringexperience,and an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or two years college coursework in electrical engineering (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment.
Field visits may entail exposure to all types of weather, traffic, hazardous/toxic substances, high voltage energized equipment and work in or near construction sites.
Overnight travel may be required.
License, Certification and Other Requirements You must hold a current valid state issued driver’s license from any US state to be verified prior to start date. Out of state license holders will be required to obtain a WA state license within 30 days of hire.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in GIS.
Three or more years of increasingly complex GIS related work within a utility setting using ArcGIS and other Esri software such as Portal.
Demonstrated experience providing custom data and mapping support.
Experience providing software applications training to end users.
Experience gathering business needs for customers unfamiliar with GIS concepts.
Experience with web development technologies: JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Python and/or ESRI’s JavaScript API.
