1. Role Overview Mercor is seeking bilingual English–Japanese language experts to collaborate on a high-impact AI language evaluation project with a leading research partner. Freelancers will help assess the quality and naturalness of translations, with a focus on fluency, local phrasing, and cultural relevance in Japanese. This is a unique opportunity to apply linguistic expertise to improve cutting-edge language technologies. The engagement is part-time and short-term, with flexible hours. 2. Key Responsibilities Review English-to-Japanese translations for fluency, accuracy, and local relevance Flag unnatural phrasing and suggest culturally appropriate alternatives Assess AI-generated outputs for quality, tone, and context alignment Provide written feedback on nuanced linguistic errors or ambiguities Maintain consistency and attention to detail across multiple review tasks 3. Ideal Qualifications Native-level fluency in Japanese and fluent English proficiency Strong reading speed and comprehension in both languages Demonstrated experience with translation review or linguistic QA High attention to detail and cultural sensitivity Ability to work independently and meet deadlines on a flexible schedule 4.
