Vice President of Academic Affairs (ADM2860) Reports to: College President. Key outcomes: Lead strategic planning and oversee academic operations.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic vision, leadership, and accountability for academic operations: scheduling/teaching assignments, curriculum/program development, program review, instructional planning and evaluation, academic assessment, policy/procedure review, contractual responsibilities, and staffing/scheduling for academic/career technical programs.

Recruit new qualified faculty members and make recommendations to the College President regarding appointment, evaluation, promotion, suspension, or dismissal of full‑time faculty and instructional staff.

In cooperation with the Vice President of Workforce Development and Outreach, oversee annual course schedule and assignment of classes/facilities for all delivery methods, including face‑to‑face, online, hybrid, and facilitated sections/courses.

Provide accountability for institutional effectiveness related to academic/career‑technical/developmental instruction.

Provide leadership for institutional and programmatic accreditation, Kansas Board of Regents performance agreements/reports, articulation agreements, and supervise periodic reporting to federal/state agencies and any regulatory agency as required.

Create a positive working environment for all levels of the academic division, leading department chairs with faculty/staff to work cooperatively with campus personnel to integrate/coordinate programs/services across the College.

Supervise instructional and academic support staff, including Online Education, Rimmer Learning Center, Honors Education, and Adult Education.

Direct professional development activities to enhance faculty teaching/student learning, including scholarly events, faculty mentoring, Teaching Academy, and opportunities for part‑time faculty.

Supervise the budgeting and acquisition of instructional supplies and equipment.

Oversee Carl D. Perkins grant annual application, processes and allocations for CTE technical education programs.

Track/analyze student enrollment, retention, performance data to ensure learning outcomes are achieved and to make informed decisions regarding academic programs and resource management.

Provide leadership/support of effective advisory committees for guidance in strengthening curriculum, providing linkages to business/industry, and enhancing CTE learning environments.

Investigate and remain current regarding state/national trends and innovations applicable to various disciplines, community colleges, and higher education, including assessment/outcome methodologies, hiring practices, academic freedom, online education, and course design.

Collaborate with and support both faculty and quality education in alignment with the faculty Master Agreement.

Chair or serve on designated committees.

Comply with HutchCC policies, practices, and procedures.

Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.

Secondary Responsibilities

Serve as a member of the President’s Council and perform other responsibilities as assigned by the HutchCC President.
