Job Summary
The Electroencephalographic Technologist (EEG Tech), under direction from the Supervisor and according to lab protocols, will participate as an integral member of the Neurodiagnostic Services department by performing routine, specialized and complex Neurodiagnostic procedures to include: EEGs, ambulatory studies, Phase I Video EEG in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), Long Term (LTM), live patient EEG monitoring, and other specialized procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including nursing floors, intensive care units, operating rooms and other specialized locations.
This position will work night shift from 10:45 pm to 7:15 am Monday to Friday and work rotating weekends with the possibility of taking call.
The EEG Tech will ensure electrode and technical integrity and quality of all Neurodiagnostic procedures performed. Accurate results provide the physician with valuable information to diagnose and treat neurological conditions/disorders. The EEG Tech may participate in departmental and organizational programs, including performance improvement activities, in‑services, and staff development activities.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $50.60 - $63.11 (Hourly Rate).
Required Qualifications
Possession of current CPR certification
Must obtain ABRET R. EEG T. credential within two years of hire date
This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
High school graduate or GED.
Graduate from an accredited training program in Electroneurodiagnostics or a combination of training and experience.
Demonstrated competency in performing EEGs as well as in one or modalities such as LTM, EMU etc.
Prior experience working with an interdisciplinary health provider team.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
Possession of good interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, family, caregivers, physicians, and clinical staff.
Proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, and online communication.
Possession of good time management, problem solving and self‑initiation skills.
Ability to work variable shifts and days.
Demonstrates ability to be an independent, motivated self‑starter.
Preferred Qualifications
One year of experience as an EEG Technologist
Prior experience working in an academic medical center's Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
Knowledge of basic medical terminology
Experience with computerized Neurodiagnostic equipment
Proficient with EMRs (EPIC)
License/Certification
Possession of current CPR certification
