Summary This role will support engineering design and development activities.
Responsibilities
Lead and support engineering activities for large‑scale product development programs, including feasibility investigation, 3‑D modeling, layout review, and 2‑D drawing creation.
Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance.
Create part specification requirements and BOM.
Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers.
Perform cost analysis, strength calculations, and material selection.
Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.
Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up‑to‑date technology, and reduce design and parts costs.
Travel to client sites as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5+ years of experience designing seats, structural components, and mechanisms.
Preferred specialties: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
Experience using Catia V5/V6 to create 3‑D models and 2‑D drawings is required.
Experience in the automotive domain designing seating, structural components, and mechanisms is required.
Proven experience engaging with cross‑functional teams, with strong skills in layout negotiation and consensus building.
Strong understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) is required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office.
California pay range: $120,000 USD - $130,000 USD
