Departmental Overview Provide a variety of IT services for University Health Services (UHS) and Recreation & Wellbeing (RecWell). UHS delivers comprehensive medical, mental health, health promotion, sports medicine, and insurance services to all California students, faculty, and staff with approximately 100,000 annual visits to the Tang Center. RecWell supports recreation and well‑being for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the broader community, including group fitness, aquatics, adventure trips, intramural sports, and more.
Responsibilities
Information Systems Operations
– Manage all aspects of the department’s computer systems and technical services, including design, development, installation, operation, and maintenance of UHS and RecWell environments.
Resource Management
– Oversee operational and budget processes, staff FTE, finance, HR, and space planning; recommend hiring, salary actions, and performance ratings.
Project Management
– Lead cross‑functional project teams to assess needs, establish priorities, develop long‑range plans, and manage technical project planning.
Network Management and Support
– Manage installation, testing, and maintenance of LAN and WAN infrastructure across campus.
Database Management
– Direct database operations for mission‑critical applications and evaluate new database systems.
Systems Development
– Manage development and security functions for systems such as EPIC, pharmacy, lab, and other clinical operations platforms.
Security & Operations
– Enforce data security policies, manage physical and logical access, develop disaster recovery plans, and serve as UHS HIPAA Security Officer.
Staff Development
– Provide coaching, mentoring, and training opportunities for staff, including conference attendance.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Expertise in IT principles and solving complex, multi‑dimensional problems.
Advanced knowledge of application programming, IT organization, data analysis, and strategic planning.
Extensive experience managing technical staff and leading change initiatives.
Proficiency in data communications, vendor products, and software integration.
Excellent oral and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree preferred.
4–10 years of experience managing an information technology organization.
Salary & Benefits
Salary range: $175,000.00 to $204,000.00.
Full‑time, 40‑hour workweek, exempt, paid monthly.
Eligible for full UC benefits.
