Uber
About The Role
As Uber Eats expands deeper into grocery, retail, convenience, and packaged goods, the scale and complexity of our product catalog is growing exponentially. The Catalog Quality team ensures our catalog is complete, correct, and consistent so customers can trust what they see, shoppers can reliably pick the right items in stores, and merchants and CPGs can understand and improve their performance. As the Senior Product Manager for Product Identity, you will own the strategy and technical foundation for how Uber identifies the same product across different stores, groups related variants, and models and captures each product's identity and relationships in the catalog. This understanding enables our systems to power accurate search, substitutions, fulfillment, ads, and other key experiences. What The Candidate Will Do
Own the strategy and roadmap for how Uber classifies products, models variant and product relationships, and defines product identity and uniqueness to maintain a consistent and accurate canonical catalog that powers critical use cases like reorders, item-forward shopping across merchants, and fulfillment optimization. Work closely with Engineering and Science teams to design scalable products and workflows (using ML or LLMs where helpful) that classify products accurately, resolve duplicates, and improve the quality and consistency of our canonical catalog. Dive deep into data and customer insights to understand the problem space and opportunity areas, ensuring we build solutions that meaningfully improve the customer experience and drive desired business outcomes. Partner with Ops to design human-in-the-loop processes for resolving ambiguous cases and build reliable golden datasets to measure success against. Basic Qualifications
5+ years of Product Management experience delivering successful, technically complex products. Bachelor degree or equivalent. Strong technical intuition and the ability to ask the right questions, evaluate tradeoffs, and make solid decisions in complex, highly technical domains. Ability to break down complex, ambiguous problem spaces into clear principles, frameworks, and actionable plans. A rigorous, truth-seeking mindset and the discipline to dig deep, validate assumptions, and ensure product decisions hold up across all edge cases. Comfortable working with messy, real-world operational data and using it to inform how we manage the catalog. Clear, structured communicator who can break down complex topics, explain the why, and build conviction across cross‑functional partners. Skilled at storytelling, influencing without authority, and collaborating closely with teams to move complex work forward together. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ML‑ or LLM‑powered classification, clustering, or entity resolution techniques such as embedding‑based matching. Experience with data modeling, particularly designing or working with taxonomies and ontologies that define product meaning and relationships. Background in retail or e‑commerce, particularly working with catalog or inventory data. Experience designing human‑in‑the‑loop systems for resolving ambiguous or high‑judgment cases. Base salary range USD$190,000 – USD$211,000 per year in New York or San Francisco. All US locations are eligible for a bonus program, equity award, and benefits. More details:
