Job Overview Founded in 1881, UConn is a flagship public university with seven campuses, a Carnegie R1 research institution, and an annual operating budget of $1.7 B. The university serves students, local industry, and the state’s economic development goals.
Responsibilities
Report to the President and serve as a member of the President’s cabinet and the University Senate.
Oversee Finance & Budget functions, including Financial Operations, Controller, Budget and Planning, Procurement and Business Services, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Bursar, Financial Systems, Payroll, and Treasury.
Lead long‑range financial planning and management of operating and capital budgets for all university units.
Coordinate budget development, monitoring, reporting, and revenue‑generating initiatives in conformity with Board policies.
Act as the University’s point of contact for external agencies and partners on business and operational matters.
Collaborate with senior leaders, faculty, and staff to ensure financial efficiency, sustainability, and alignment with strategic goals.
Qualifications
Strategic decision‑maker with strong business acumen, judgment, and data‑driven decision skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation and negotiation expertise.
Results‑oriented, able to interpret complex problems, find solutions, and implement them.
Familiarity with metrics, business processes, performance and quality improvement.
Experience in a large, diverse organization and ability to work effectively with a range of constituencies.
