About The Role Our client, a prestigious Boston-based law firm, is seeking a Patent Agent or Junior/Mid-Level Associate with a strong engineering background to join their Intellectual Property practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting IP due diligence, and performing freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses. This position offers the opportunity to work on innovative IP matters for clients across diverse industries.
Key Responsibilities
Draft and prosecute patent applications related to engineering innovations.
Conduct IP due diligence and FTO analyses to support client strategies.
Engage in some litigation and/or post-grant activities, if applicable.
Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to craft and implement strategic IP solutions.
Requirements
Education: An advanced degree in engineering is required (Ph.D. preferred, Master’s degree with substantial industry experience will also be considered).
Experience: 1-4 years drafting and prosecuting patent applications. Experience in IP due diligence and FTO analyses is required. Some litigation or post-grant experience is a plus.
USPTO Registration: Required to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Skills: Strong academic credentials, superior organizational and communication skills (both written and oral), and a creative, client-focused approach to IP law.
