Associate/Full Professor NTC (TMC) - Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, McGovern Medical School McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full‑time, (1.0 FTE) Associate Professor/Professor non‑tenure clinical track Vascular and Endovascular Surgery faculty position in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery.

The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to demonstrate excellence in patient care, teaching, research, and leadership. The position will be responsible for leading a dynamic and growing division, advancing its clinical programs, fostering innovative research, and training the next generation of vascular surgeons.

Position Key Accountabilities

Leadership & Strategy

Provide visionary leadership for the position of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery.

Develop and implement a strategic plan to expand and enhance the division’s national reputation in clinical care, education, and research.

Recruit, mentor, and retain outstanding faculty, trainees, and staff.

Promote a culture of collaboration, excellence, and professional growth.

Clinical Care

Oversee the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centered vascular surgical services across affiliated hospitals, including Memorial Hermann‑Texas Medical Center, Harris Health System, and other UTHealth Houston partners.

Expand clinical programs in open and endovascular surgery, complex aortic disease, peripheral vascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, trauma vascular, and venous disorders.

Foster multidisciplinary collaboration with cardiology, cardiac surgery, general surgery, trauma surgery, thoracic surgery, vascular medicine, pediatrics, interventional radiology, neurosurgery, and other specialties.

Education & Training

Direct the vascular surgery residency and fellowship training programs, ensuring compliance with ACGME requirements.

Support innovation in surgical education and simulation.

Mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty in academic career development.

Research & Scholarship

Encourage and support investigator‑initiated clinical trials, translational research, and outcomes studies in vascular and endovascular surgery.

Promote collaboration within McGovern Medical School, UTHealth Houston Schools, the Texas Medical Center’s rich research environment, state, national, and international collaborations.

Secure extramural research funding and foster scholarly productivity.

Ensure interdisciplinary performance improvement programs are active, maintained, and ongoing.

Follow up to ensure that complaints have been satisfactorily handled and collaborate to maintain a focus on providing excellent clinical services.

Administration

Manage the division’s financial performance, clinical operations, and academic productivity.

Partner with departmental and institutional leadership to align with UTHealth Houston’s mission and goals.

Serve as a visible leader within the Texas Medical Center, nationally, and internationally.

Qualifications

MD, DO, or equivalent degree

American Board of Surgery, certification in Vascular Surgery

Eligible for unrestricted Texas medical license

Distinguished record of clinical excellence, scholarly achievement, and funded research

Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic medical center

Commitment to fostering excellence
