Principal Management Consultant

– Join HDR as part of the Resources Business Group Advisory Services team. This role supports national Power, Industrial, and Technology practice leaders, serving existing clients and developing new clients globally.

You excel at navigating the nexus between power and data centers, listening attentively, and developing roadmaps and tactical plans.

Primary Responsibilities The primary duties involve advising on power market and industrial topics through HDR’s Advisory Services, working closely with utilities, developers, and large demand technology customers to find reliable, resilient, and affordable power solutions.

Provide advisory services to HDR’s power, industrial, and technology clients.

Think strategically about projects and potential funding and financing alternatives.

Coordinate multidisciplinary planning teams.

Collaborate within the HDR matrix to input on strategic and tactical plans for new market entry and sustained growth.

Establish and maintain client relationships, engage in marketing, contractual, and development meetings.

Attend and participate in industry and client events to support HDR brand awareness.

Preferred Qualifications

Expertise in power market and nexus between power and technology, especially rapid deployment.

Experience supporting large demand customers such as data centers with infrastructure development.

Experience with a variety of client types including regulated and non-regulated utilities, independent power producers, municipalities, and other public and private clients.

Interest and experience with industrial clients, challenges, and evolving technologies.

BS or BA in Engineering, Business, Sciences or related field.

Minimum 15 years of experience, including 3+ years in a development role in power, industrial, and/or technology.

Knowledge of electric power system, market participants, energy contracts and transactions, project finance, and utility-scale and distributed power generation technologies.

Client development and management skills with a high quality standard.

Ability to establish new business relationships, understand contracts, and maintain a strong industry network.

Ability to travel to in-person client meetings.

Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.

Curiosity and passion for continuous learning.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Business Administration or closely related field.

Minimum 10 years consulting experience with extensive related expertise.

Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).

Excellent interpersonal skills and strong relationship, organizational, and follow-up skills.

Benefits & Compensation

– The targeted pay range for this position is $105.77/hr – $132.22/hr. HDR offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, employee assistance, paid time off, parental leave, holidays, retirement savings with employer match, referral bonus, and tuition reimbursement.
