Job Summary Geisinger Hospital is seeking an accomplished Director to lead the Hospital Medicine team at Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, PA. The role focuses on strategic vision, enhancing patient care, fostering innovation, and supporting academic and research excellence.
Leadership & Operations: Oversee departmental functions by directing staffing, budgeting, and financial management to ensure optimal resource utilization in alignment with institutional objectives.
Recruitment: Manage recruitment strategies to attract and retain highly qualified hospitalists, maintain effective staffing levels, and support delivery of exceptional patient care.
Collaboration & Innovation: Act as the primary liaison to administration and affiliated hospital entities, advocate for advancement in clinical care, teaching, and research, and foster multidisciplinary collaboration.
Supervision & Quality: Administer supervision of physicians' clinical and administrative responsibilities, spearhead quality improvement projects, and promote ongoing enhancement of patient outcomes.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure departmental practices conform to organizational policies, accrediting requirements, and regulatory standards, upholding departmental integrity and standing.
Job Duties
Education:
MD or DO from accredited medical school; completed residency in Internal or Family Medicine.
Licensure:
Current/unrestricted PA medical license or eligibility.
Board Certification:
Required in Internal or Family Medicine.
Experience:
3–5 years clinical hospital medicine, including 2+ years in leadership.
Skills:
Proven leadership, operational oversight, budgeting, and quality improvement expertise; strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred:
Advanced degree (MBA, MHA, MPH) and experience in academic or teaching hospital settings.
